Why train with us?
With over 15 years of experience in the youth development space, our work is grounded in helping young athletes build foundations that last. Throughout this time, we’ve been closely involved in athletic development pathways that have supported junior athletes progressing to national and international representation across a wide range of sporting codes.
Our approach to strength and conditioning is built on a simple belief: athleticism underpins performance. By developing strong, robust, and resilient bodies, athletes are better equipped to train and practise their sport at higher intensities, with greater consistency, and with reduced susceptibility to fatigue. This holistic approach allows athletes to stay engaged in their chosen sport while ensuring their physical development supports—rather than competes with—their technical and tactical training.
All strength and conditioning programs are carefully matched to the athlete’s age, stage of development, and training history. This begins with foundational bodyweight and core-based movement, and progresses to more advanced weightlifting and plyometric training as appropriate. Each program is designed to complement the athlete’s track and field work, ensuring physical development enhances overall athletic performance.
Strength & Conditioning
Core
The core is the foundation for all movement. For younger athletes, this means learning how to control their body, maintain good posture, and move with balance and coordination. Core training focuses on safe, age-appropriate exercises that improve stability and body awareness, helping children run, jump, throw, and change direction with confidence.
Strength & Power
Strength development begins with mastering bodyweight movements and gradually progresses as the athlete grows and matures. At younger ages, the focus is on developing strength through controlled, well-supervised exercises that teach correct technique. As athletes advance, strength training supports the development of power—allowing them to move faster, jump higher, and perform skills more efficiently, while reducing fatigue and injury risk.
Positions
This pillar strengthens the key body positions athletes use in sprinting and track & field. We coach tall running posture, effective acceleration angles, strong single-leg support, and safe landing and take-off positions for jumping. Building strength and control in these positions helps athletes maintain good technique as speed and intensity increase, improving movement efficiency and performance while reducing stress on growing bodies. It also helps athletes understand how their body should feel and move, creating habits that transfer directly into training and competition.
