Why train with us?
Sprint and hurdles success isn’t built on talent alone. It’s built on technical mastery, consistency and the right environment.
At Future Athletics, our coaches are former elite sprinters and hurdlers who have trained and competed at the highest levels. With over 30 years of combined experience, we understand what it takes to develop athletes from their first Little Athletics meet through to senior and international competition.
Our coaching is individualised within a squad environment. Every athlete follows a structured, progressive program tailored to their age, stage and performance level. We don’t rush development. We build it properly.
We take a long-term approach, refining sprint mechanics, acceleration patterns, hurdle technique, strength, speed endurance and race execution over time. Junior athletes are taught the technical foundations early, while senior athletes are challenged with advanced programming designed to maximise performance.
Our academy has developed some of the country’s leading junior and senior sprinters and hurdlers. Many athletes have trained with us for over a decade, a testament to a system that works and an environment that supports growth.
Our squad structure allows seamless progression:
Junior (7–11 years) → Intermediate (12–17 years) → Senior (18+)
Training times are aligned so younger athletes are exposed to the professionalism, standards and habits of senior athletes, creating a culture of excellence across all levels.
Whether you’re stepping onto the track for the first time or chasing national finals, we provide the structure, coaching and environment to help you reach your potential.
Sprints & Hurdles
Sprints
The sprints training involves the best plyometric drills to enhance power and speed. Technical training to learn how to use that in races. Resistance training to push you to limits to find more speed on the track. The focus is to improve stride length and stride frequency to find more speed and distance in each sprint event.
Hurdles
The knowledge from an olympic hurdler as a coach really helps with the drills and technique to perfect the technique that is needed for this event to be able to compete at the highest level. With the element of working with the best sprint coaches to find enough speed to make the right steps by also having the technique trained by the best hurdles coach in the country.
Plyometrics
The training involves plyometric drills to push the body to be quick off the ground and find as much height and distance as possible to reach their best on the track. With sprinting being key in this, drills to build that speed and control and balance to ensure contact off the ground is as light and quick as possible.
