Why train with us?

Middle distance has arrived at Future Athletics with Michael Hillardt now our new middle-distance coach having been an elite distance competitor himself once guided by Norm Osborn, one of the world’s best coaches, where Michael trained and competed with the best internationally. Michael learned the principals of coaching from Norm when an athlete and from his local and international opposition coaches that were willing to share their secrets of success. Michael brings more than 30 years of extensive coaching experience working with athletes of all levels including over twenty-two years of coaching in schools.

At Future Athletics, we strongly believe that with the right guidance, all athletes have the potential to learn and improve regardless of whether they are training to compete in a Little Athletics meet or qualify for the Olympics. Our training is focussed on the individual athlete's level, giving each of them the opportunity to improve to be their best. The approach Future Athletics is our coaching is for the long term with a holistic process. Our coaching philosophy prepares junior athletes not only for their immediate competition but also provides them with the necessary tools and skills required to transition to senior athletics.

At Future Athletics we are now developing a middle-distance squad where you as an athlete get the chance to train in an environment that will assist in achieving your short to long term goals. We will be offering cross country and middle-distance track training so you will have the chance to develop your strengths and weaknesses, making you even more competitive. Our squads are based on age and performance levels that provide athletes opportunities to seamlessly transition from the junior to the senior level. Since training times are coordinated, younger athletes have the opportunity to observe and learn from the professionalism and discipline displayed by the senior athletes.

On offer will be three different squad opportunities that include Junior (7 - 11 years) Intermediate Squad (12 - 17 years) Senior Squad (18+). Irrespective of whether you are a junior athlete or a senior athlete, training with Future Athletics will bring out your potential to achieve your best. Our squad has already some of the best athletes in the country and provides an excellent training group for athletes of all levels.

Join now to be part of a great team!

One Stride at a Time

At the heart of every champion lies a commitment to discipline, dedication, and the pure love of the sport.

Nurturing Excellence, Rain or Shine

At the heart of our coaching philosophy lies the unshakeable commitment to nurturing excellence. Our seasoned coaches are dedicated to providing unwavering support and world-class training to help each athlete not just meet, but exceed their personal goals.

Support That Wins

Performance isn’t just built on the track. It’s shaped by preparation, recovery, and a team that shows up for every athlete. This is the environment that keeps athletes healthy, focused, and ready to perform when it matters.

Fundamentals First

Strong movement starts with the basics. By teaching correct mechanics early, athletes build confidence, coordination, and control that carry through every stage of their development.

Learning the Process

Before performance comes understanding. Athletes learn how to train, how to move, and how to work together — building confidence, discipline, and habits that last far beyond one session.

Each instructor brings their own expertise and perspective
